Hi everyone! Have you thought about what changes you can make to become more eco-friendly? Well I am here to help you along the way. I know it can be overwhelming and figuring out where to start can be a challenge. The secret is to start with the small changes and work your way up to the bigger ones. This will not be a quick change and will take some time especially if you are on a budget. Don’t get discouraged though, all of the small things add up.
What is eco-friendly you ask? Eco-friendly refers to the practices, products or lifestyle that are not harmful to the environment. Some examples are gardening, making your own food, making your own cleaning products, using items made from non-toxic materials (no plastic), canning your own food and much more. It’s not a change that you can do overnight and it will take time to learn what is eco-friendly and the changes you can make in your daily life. Remember, start small and work your way up to the bigger things.
Small changes can be anything from switching to use reusable bags for grocery shopping. Say goodbye to dryer sheets and use dryer balls. Get rid of the toxic laundry detergent and find eco-friendly laundry sheets. Start buying things that are in glass or metal to eliminate how much plastic you buy. Look into your local recycling, every place has different recycling policies on what they can and cannot recycle. Buy locally when you can and take advantage of those farmer’s markets.
It’s not always easy to find what is eco-friendly and what is not with all of the fakes and loopholes out there. Just start with making better choices. Look at the ingredients in things or what they are made of or how they are packaged. The less ingredients the better. If things are made from wood, bamboo, glass, silicone or metal those are your better options. By no means do I know it all, but learning and sharing with others is what matters. When I talk to people in my personal life a lot of them have not even thought of all the waste they contribute to or if there are better options out there. Yes, some roll their eyes and think it doesn’t matter but most want to learn more and start making simple changes and notice the benefits.
